The potential for a strong and widespread offshore wind event could come together Thursday night and persist until Saturday. The peak of this event would likely occur Thursday night into Friday morning, then diminish some Friday afternoon before increasing again Friday night into Saturday morning. The combination of strong offshore gradients and good upper-level wind support could bring potential damaging wind gusts to 60 mph or higher through the Los Angeles and Ventura county mountains. Strong gusts as high as 50 mph can be expected across the wind prone adjacent valleys and coastal areas. Possible impacts include downed trees and power lines in the mountains, as well as the potential for increased fire danger due to the strong offshore winds and low humidities. Driving conditions will be hazardous for high profile vehicles.
