Israel's largest forest fire in history still burns, Satellite image from NASA

The largest forest fire in Israel's history is still causing havoc just outside Haifa. The fire that started yesterday grew way out of control and is still going on in the dry forest. Today NASA again took a satellite image with the Moderate resolution imaging spectroradiometer on NASA's aqua satellite. The image was captured on December 3 at 12:50pm local time.

NASA outlined the active fire areas with a red outline which can be seen on the image. The winds at time of capture was still strong, the smoke can be seen blowing to the Mediterranean ocean.

More than 7000 acres have been destroyed, more than 17000 people have been evacuated and 42 people have been killed.
